Adopt a Sailor — Sailor

Charles Evered

Duration: 1 minuteGender: MaleAge: Young AdultGenre: Dark Comedy
Context: At dinner with his well-heeled Upper West Side hosts, the Sailor cheerfully explains how he once fell out of a cargo plane.

Sailor: Oh, it was no big deal, I was just goofin’ around with a couple of my buddies in the back of a C-130 awhile back. We were on a training deal with it, learning how to stack up the pallets in back, and the pilot was taking us up for a couple test runs and a couple of my buds and I started horsing around, you know, in the storage area and Tommy Baffuto, a good buddy of mine started to really get on me. He was just pummeling me, you know, climbing up my back, giving me wedgies, the whole nine yards and all I remember was him sort of pushing me real hard up against what I thought was the wall but instead it turned out to be the little side cargo door and “boom” — first thing I know, all I hear is the sound of sucking air and I remember seeing Tommy’s face just looking at me kind of strange because apparently somebody forgot to bolt the door and out I went. Boy, that sure was something.
