Tate Elizabeth Hanyok
Tate Elizabeth Hanyok is a playwright and screenwriter known for her bold, dynamic, female-driven comedies and genre-spanning storytelling. With a sharp wit and a keen eye for the humor and heart in themes of awkward displacement, found family, and the resilience of the underdog, she crafts narratives that seamlessly shift from laugh-out-loud warmth to gripping suspense.Raised in a historical reenactment community in colonial Virginia, Tate's liberal heart and irreverent humor were shaped by the unpredictable (and often hilarious) realities of life as a misfit mischief-maker. Her acclaimed play DOG MOM joins a growing body of work that includes the Hulu Original SEX APPeal, the HBO Max feature Love and Baseball (which she produced and co-adapted from the play of the same name), the rom-com The Pet Nup, and the thriller Forgotten Abduction. Always pushing boundaries, she has also penned the elevated horror film Zeus.An acting company member at The B Street Theatre, Tate credits her time on stage in numerous comedies and new works with honing her fearless, genre-blending storytelling where what started as escapism through performance became something deeper: a second home, a chosen family, and an endless well of inspiration.
