Press Quotes

“[A TROJAN WOMAN] puts a modern spin on Euripides’ anti-war tragedy … It is a timeless cry echoing across 3,000+ years — with no end in sight — to our great detriment and woe. When will such aggression end?” —Jay Lustig, njarts.net

“[A TROJAN WOMAN] is a play that in its simplicity and imagination brings home hard truths that, sadly, have been repeated from conflict to conflict for over two millennia … Words on paper cannot begin to describe the effect this play will have on those who see it. Its message may be as old as time but it is one that repeats down through the ages. I cannot urge you more strongly to see A TROJAN WOMAN.” —Allen Neuner, Out In Jersey

Production Notes

Production Notes

I originally wrote A TROJAN WOMAN as a solo performance for one female actor. However, the play functions beautifully as a multiplayer piece, too.

Your company is free to perform the show with as few as 1 or as many 10 actors, even more if you consider the Chorus.

The multiplayer version is self-explanatory in the script, and the rules are pretty much embedded in the text and stage directions. So as long as the text, meaning, characterization, context, and world itself remain intact, feel free to stage the multiplayer version as creatively as you want. And I’m always here to consult if you want to reach out.

I created the “trash” markers (laundry basket/shower curtain, water bottle, umbrellas, etc.) as a way to guide the audience through the solo performer’s character shifts. With multiplayer version, I lean toward still using them as Ancient Greek symbols and to deepen the visual.
