Tom Wilson WeinbergTom Wilson Weinberg began singing original queer-themed songs in coffee-houses and gay pride events in the late seventies. His early albums "Gay Name Game" (1979) and "All-American Boy" (1982) were among the first in this new genre. His shows TEN PERCENT REVUE (1987) and GET USED TO IT! (1992) were produced Off-Broadway by Laura Green and John Glines, respectively, published by Broadway Play Publishing, toured extensively and recorded by Aboveground Records. Weinberg's compilation "Don't Mess with Mary" (1994) was the official CD of Stonewall 25. SIXTY YEARS WITH BRUHS AND GEAN, commissioned by the New York City Gay Men's Chorus, debuted at Carnegie Hall in 1995 and was later sung at Lincoln Center. An expanded version, BRUHS AND GEAN, was presented by the Philadelphia Gay and Lesbian Theater Festival in 2003, at The Duplex in New York and at Arts Project Cherry Grove, Fire Island in 2004. Tom's THE TEACHINGS OF CHAIRMAN RICK was part of the 2005 Philly Fringe Festival. RICK was revived in 2006, BRUHS AND GEAN in 2007. In 2008 Tom began a series of cabaret performances which benefit community organizations and are ongoing. He is continuing development of his musical about Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok, original book by Peggy Stafford and directed by Darren Katz. A reading and demo CD of ELEANOR & HICK features Lea Delaria, Cady Huffman and Mary Testa. Weinberg's song "Lesbian Seagull" was featured in the film Beavis and Butt-head Do America (Paramount/MTV), on the soundtrack (Geffen/Universal), and published by Warner Chappell. Honors include a Drama-Logue Award (Los Angeles), Golden Gull Award (Provincetown), Bessie Smith Award (Boston) and OutMusic Heritage Award (New York). Tom was a founder of Giovanni's Room and president of The Attic Youth Center, both in Philadelphia, where he lives with his husband, John Whyte. Tom and John are the dads of Jesse, 23, and Max, 21. Tom is a member of ASCAP, OutMusic and The Purple Circuit.

Subtitled “An Adventure in Ten Scenes.” In the opening scene of Robert Chesley’s STRAY DOG STORY, a “lonely faggot” named Jon wishes out loud that his faithful Buddy were human and his lover. “If people were as good-hearted as dogs,” he sighs, “we wouldn’t be in the mess we’re in, that’s for sure.” No sooner has Jon left the room than presto! Buddy’s Fairy Dog Mother appears, and his and Jon’s wish is granted: Buddy is transformed into a man. And so begins his perilous odyssey through the gay ghetto of present-day Manhattan.
